THE THINKING BEHIND THE ANSWER

How this calculation works

CPM puts impression-based advertising costs on a common basis. Impressions count ad displays, not unique people, clicks, or conversions. It does not establish campaign profitability on its own.

CPM = campaign spend ÷ impressions × 1,000.

Your calculation, step by step

  1. 250 ÷ 100,000 × 1,000 = 2.5.
A worked example

Spending 250 for 100,000 impressions gives a CPM of 2.50.
