Convert meeting times across time zones without losing the date
A city pair is not enough to convert a meeting time. The date matters because two places may change their clocks on different days, or one may not change its clocks at all.
Use a dated time and an IANA zone name
Enter the source calendar date, local time, and a zone such as America/New_York or Asia/Tokyo. Convert the resulting instant into the destination zone. A label such as “CST” can refer to different regions; a fixed UTC offset does not express a region’s future clock rules.
On October 29, 2026, 09:00 in New York corresponds to 13:00 in London under the runtime’s zone data. The same clock-to-clock relationship need not hold on another date. Fractional-hour offsets also matter: the example converts to 18:30 in Asia/Kolkata.
Treat skipped and repeated times explicitly
When clocks move forward, some local times do not exist. The converter rejects those times instead of silently moving an appointment. When clocks move back, a local time can occur twice. Choose the earlier or later occurrence before using the result.
For New York on November 1, 2026, 01:30 can represent 05:30 UTC or 06:30 UTC. Those are different instants. The tool displays the chosen source offset, destination offset, and UTC instant so you can inspect the choice.
Confirm important future appointments
Zone calculations use the runtime’s IANA time-zone data. Governments can change clock rules, and an older runtime may not include the latest decision. Confirm future appointments when those rules change and include the date and zone in the invitation.
The work-hours calculator answers a different question: simple shift duration and pay under its stated assumptions. A time-zone conversion does not determine overtime, statutory breaks, holidays, payroll deductions, or employment law. Use a locally reviewed rule set for those obligations.
