THE THINKING BEHIND THE ANSWER

How this calculation works

Prices and fees are editable assumptions, not a live valuation, authenticity check or sale guarantee. Some marketplaces charge fees on buyer taxes: enter any extra fee base explicitly without counting it as seller income. Costs round to the selected currency’s minor unit; the variable fee rounds once per transaction. ROI uses all modeled transaction costs and is undefined when those costs are zero. Tax, returns, insurance, financing and unsold inventory may change the outcome.

Fee = round((sale + shipping collected + additional fee base) × fee rate) + flat fee. Profit = sale + shipping collected − all transaction costs. ROI = profit / all transaction costs.

Your calculation, step by step

  1. Keep shipping income and extra fee base separate.
  2. Round the variable marketplace fee once.
  3. Subtract purchase, grading, shipping and all entered fees.
  4. Find the smallest currency-unit sale price that covers these modeled costs.
A worked example

Sale 150 plus shipping collected 5, purchase 80, grading 20, shipping paid 6, 13% fee and 0.30 flat fee leave 28.55 before tax.
